Misting: A proven means of collective protection

The risk of asbestos, which is omnipresent in our environment, must be considered and assessed within a very strict regulatory framework.
Regulations relating to asbestos risk are structured around three objectives:
  • The protection of the population
  • Worker protection
  • Environmental protection

Fogging for asbestos removal

The use of misting for dust suppression prevents asbestos fibers from volatilizing into the air.

Tests conducted on asbestos removal sites, in collaboration with control bodies, have shown that the objective of reducing risks aimed at decreasing employee exposure has been achieved.

The results are therefore very positive since we observe that misting, used as a means of collective protection, reduces on average by 10 the concentration of asbestos fibers/litre on the operator processes and reduces their exposure by the same amount in the asbestos removal area.

It also allows the work area to be moistened without actually getting it wet.

High-pressure misting is recommended as a dust reduction measure at the source, significantly reducing dust levels. (Source: INRS brochure ED 6262 § "Dust Control")

For several years, BRUMALIS has been investing in research and development to study and design new solutions with the aim of improving protection against asbestos risks.
